Your Dayton Music Insider is in vacation mode, so this is a short but sweet run down on all the fun shows I’m missing out on this weekend. Be sure you don’t miss out because there sure are some pretty sweet shows happening!
Friday April 28th
Cincinnati’s Frontier Folk Nebraska is performing with Dayton’s Manray at Trolley Stop. A night of high volume garage rock. Show 9pm. $5 cover. 21+
Another cool kid show is happening just down the street at Blind Bob’s with Neon Warship, Lo-Pan, and Grand Mammoth. Oh yeah! 9pm. $5 cover. 21+
On the gentler side, check out the super talented Winchester Gray and The Typical Johnsons at Oregon Express. 9pm. $5 cover. 21+
Super hot show happening at Jazz Central on East 3rd. with a great mix of performers including:Mic Lansky, Gocci Baby, B.Weave & Brandy Danielle, Uneek, Uncle James, Mike Feez. Dress to impress! Doors 10pm. 21+ w/ ID. $15 General admission.
Any Zappa fans out there? Head south of town to see Ugly Radio Rebellion perform the music of Frank Zappa at Old Crow Bar in Middletown. Very cool! 9pm. $5 cover.
Gin-soaked Angels rare kicking off Spring in the Springs Friday night at Peach’s Grill on Friday, April 28! They have been working hard on their first album and have some new tunes to share. Come add your energy to the show, share in the experience! Doors 9pm. Music 10pm. FREE SHOW. 21+
Saturday April 29th
Funky local bands Zane and The Sway, Founding Fathers, Echo Mecca will have you boogieing the night away at Oregon Express. $5 Cover, 21+ Doors at 9pm, Music at 10pm.
If you love bluegrass, don’t miss The Brian Spirk Unit live at The Tumbleweed Connection. This is a very talented group of guys! So excited for this new combo! 9:30pm. $5 cover. 21+
I’m loving the line up at Jimmie’s Ladder 11, and so will my jam band friends: Jericho Thyme with special guest Rich Reuter. Some debut material is planned too, so that’s extra exciting. Plus any show with Rich as the special guest is a “don’t miss” event in my book! 9pm. $5 cover. 21+
Metal / hard rock fans, head over to Englewood for Blackwater w/ Lying In Ruins, One Day Alive & Forces of Nature at the Courtyard Lounge. Show starts at 9pm. $5 Cover. 21+
Grateful Dead fans are in for a double treat as two tribute bands play the area Saturday night. Check out Arrows of Neon at One Eyed Jacks in Fairborn for two full sets of music starting at 10PM. FREE SHOW! Or head shouth to Middletown, for A Evening with Terrapin Moon at the Old Crow Bar. $5 at the door. 18 & Up. Doors 8pm. Show 10pm.
Fun bands Common Center and Spanish Tony Sanchez at Peach’s in Yellow Springs. This is going to be super fun for the Yellow Springs crowd! Music 10pm. 21+
Last but not least, one of my faves is back in town: Chicago Afrobeat Project is performing at Mother Stewart’s Brewing House in Springfield. They blend Afro-Cuban, Afrobeat and funk! Very cool! Tickets ($10) on sale at the brewery and by phone (937-717-0618) during normal tap room hours.
