Dayton Music Insider: This Must Be the Party!

For those of you who know or follow me on social media, you’re already well aware that this weekend’s “This Must Be the Party” concert is very near and dear to my heart. This event combines my love of Dayton’s dance and music communities in a very unique and extremely fun way!

Dayton Ballet Barre Fundraiser featuring a Talking Heads Tribute Performance and Dance Party

For quite awhile, musicians in the Dayton area have quietly kicked around the idea of re-creating Talking Head’s highly influential concert film “Stop Making Sense.” The film was released in 1984, and has remained relevant over 30 years later.

As President of the Dayton Ballet Barre, I was looking for a creative approach to fundraising. Instead of a big, expensive gala type event, I wanted to do an event that was pure fun, and affordable. Light bulb went off! What if we re-created the Stop Making Sense film, as the fundraiser? How fun would that be?

The rest, as they say, is history. It took an incredible amount of time, coordination, patience, and support from many people, but we have finally made it happen! This epic recreation is happening this Saturday April 15th at Oddbody’s Music Room. The cast and crew have put their hearts and souls into this production, and it shows! Truly a don’t miss event!

Pre-sale tickets are $15 and going fast! Purchase yours here, or come the day of for $20 at the door. All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Dayton Ballet!
