What a weekend to see live music! Rock fans are in for a real treat with the 2-day Not Much More Than Awesome Fest at Yellow Cab. However, if you love country, blues, metal, jazz or jam bands, keep reading, because there are some great shows in store for you too!

The 2-day Not Much More Than Awesome Again Fest, hosted by local indie band The 1984 Draft, is being held at Yellow Cab Tavern. This fest has grabbed national attention, with a mention in Ghettoblaster magazine, and for good reason! The line-up for rock, indie and alternative fans is really stellar, featuring bands from Chicago, Louisville, Indiana, Akron, Columbus, and of course, Dayton.

The cover for Friday night’s show is just $5 and the schedule is as follows:

Local band Bribing Senators is thrilled to finally have their album done, and they are ready to celebrate! Congrats! Special guests The New Old-Fashioned and Lovely join them on stage at Blind Bob’s to get the party started. Show starts at 9:30pm. $5 cover. 21+

A fun pre-game to the aforementioned shows, is the Rebel Rebel Tattoo Grand Opening Party. DJ Fatty Lumpkin and Tino will be performing for guests while artist Kevin McKinnon does a live tattoo demonstration. Toxic Brew Company will be on tap and hors d’oerves will be served. This is all happening 7-11pm. Head across the street to drink and dance the night away at our Hole In The Wall Dayton afterparty with Nick Testa!

Both of these bands contain some of my favorite musicians, and my favorite people on the planet, so I’m certainly excited for this one! If you like to boogie down with friends, this is your spot! Music starts a bit after 10pm. $5 cover. 21+

Country star Colt Ford is performing Friday evening at Oddbody’s Music Room with special guest openers Charlie Farley, Justin Bryan, and Norm Lilly. Lots of country fans are pumped about this one, so get there early! $28 day of show. Doors 7pm. Show 7:30pm. 18+

EDM fans, check out Manimal and QUIXX at Patterson Pub (aka the old Taggert’s). Tons of cool kids will be there – so enjoy it! Music from 10pm-2am. No cover charge.

Over at Therapy Cafe, check out Litz, from Atlanta. They perform a mix of funk, jam, go-go, soul, electronica. Also performing are Dayton’s own “sonic sunshine” Zane and the Sway, along with Cozmikspirit & The Vibe. $5 cover. 18+

Out in Yellow Springs, great show happening with Salvadore Ross and OldNews at over at Peach’s. No cover, which means no excuse to miss this show! 21+

Saturday March 4th

On Saturday, the Not Much More Than Awesome Fest at Yellow Cab continues with more music starting at 6pm. Cover charge is $7 for Saturday’s festivities. Schedule as follows:

More of a hard rock / metal fan? Two shows for you to check out: Jasper the Colossal, Death by Fetish and Endive at Oregon Express.  And over at Blind Bob’s, catch Engraved Darkenss, Immortal Bird, Valdrin, and Zuel. 9pm. $5 cover. 21+

Or head over to check out Scott Bratcher, who is performing at Oddbody’s Music Room. Doors 7pm. Show 8pm. $10 advance. $15 day of show. 18+.

Heading out of Dayton, another opportunity to catch Zane and The Sway, this time with FOUNDING FATHERS, and Thank the Maker at Bootlegger’s Tavern off Taylorsville Rd. Doors 8:30pm. Music starts at 9. No cover charge!

North of town, hard rock / metal fans are in for a ragin’ night with National Headcase, Gudger, Far From Eden and This Blessed Hatred at Oscar’s Bar in Vandalia. 9pm. $5 cover. 18+

Reggae & funk fans better boogie on over to Peach’s in Yellow Springs to catch two of Cincinnati’s best bands: The Cliftones and Ernie Johnson from Detroit at Peach’s Grill in Yellow Springs. This will be fun fun fun – especially for the YS crowd! Show at 9pm.

Head down to Franklin for a special Songwriter Night, featuring all original music – and Beer Pong tournament. Kind of a random pairing – but I’ll take it! This all starts at 7pm at the American Legion Post 149 in Franklin. No cover!

Jazz fans – don’t forget about the live jazz every single night of the week at Blue Note Bistro & Lounge in Miamisburg. Beautiful setting and great music!
