14938361_1084400441629749_6658541670179906437_n.jpgThe first weekend of November kicks off in Dayton with a truly eclectic mix of live music, ranging from classic rock, alternative, indie, bluegrass, country, hard rock, to funk. Read on to get all the details!

Friday November 4th

Classic rock fans, don’t miss “Landslide” – a tribute to one of the most popular bands in music history – Fleetwood Mac. This is one of the installments of the Dayton Philharmonic‘s extremely popular Rockin’ Orchestra series. Performance starts at 8pm at the Schuster Center. Tickets start at $29, and can be purchased here.

Blind Bob’s has a sweet indie / alternative show Friday night with  ManrayCommunist DaughterLo, The Loyal Conscripts, and Heaven Dog. Excited to check out Communist Daughter especially, since they are coming all the way from St Paul, MN and their music is way cool. Give these bands a listen! $5 cover. 9pm-2am. 21+

If you are overdue for some bluegrass, head over to Tumbleweed Connection to check out Sawgrass, a local staple in the genre. Those guys know how to get people in good mood on a Friday night, that’s for sure! Music starts around 9:30pm generally. If you’re out and about early, stop by from 4:30-7:30 for wine tasting. Yum!

Country fans, check out Casey Donahew at Oddbody’s Music Room. Local up-and-comers Ashley Martin and Mack McKenzie are starting off the night, so make sure to get there early for those acts. Doors 8pm. Show 8:30pm. Tickets are $20 at the door. 18+

Taking the short drive up to Oscar’s is well worth it tonight, especially for rock fans. The Story Changes, Jasper the Colossal, Long Arms, and Misunderstood are on this very rockin’ bill. Really been loving the chances this venue has been taking on original music, so please support them! Show starts at 9pm. I would assume there’s a $5 cover there.

Saturday November 5th

Saturday night definitely gets interesting in the live music world. Oregon Express is featuring a special Solo Artists vs Bands Showdown! Solo artists include Mara Moon. Vinnie Sicks, and Dave Barry versus Bands: Run Rabbit Run, Kyleen Downes, and Præy. Sounds fun! Music starts at 9pm. $5 cover. 18+

I’m super excited for the Me Time album release party at Cloverdale. The New Old-Fashioned. Me & Mountains, and Human Cannonball are also performing at this very special local show. 18+ 9pm showtime. $5 cover.

Another cool show is the Best Friends Show at Blind Bob’s featuring great all-local indie rock bands Grenades?!, Swimming with Sharks, Bribing Senators, and Lovely. 9pm showtime. $5 cover. 21+

I’m curious to check out Stoop Kids, who are coming all the way from their hometown of New Orleans on their fall tour, to perform an intimate show at the Trolley Stop. Stop by, and show them some hometown support! Showtime 9:30pm. I believe the cover is $5.

Funk fanatics, get to the 70’s Costume Party Jam at Gilly’s, a benefit for the The Funk Center Youth Program. Besides amazing grooves, there will be food, prizes, contests, special guests, and a Soul Train line! Woot! Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. 8pm – 12 midight.

Sunday November 6th

A great way to spend Sunday is attending the Justice Jam for Ronnie at One Eyed Jacks in Fairborn. All proceeds directly go to the family of Ronnie Bowers, the teen who was tragically shot in Kettering this past Labor Day weekend. Lots of great music, drink specials, a silent art auction, and more! Starts at 5pm.

Downtown Sunday evening, catch Ben Stalets and his band at Blind Bob’s, with support from Tod Weidner and Charlie Jackson. Show runs from 6-11pm. Nice and early for a Sunday evening!

As always, thank you for supporting live music!
