For all you Johnny Depp fans out there, of which I am one, this is your chance to see him perform live with Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and special guest Rai Thistlethwayte. It’s true! This motley crew, known as the Hollywood Vampires, is making a stop in Dayton, at the Fraze Pavilion, on Tuesday July 12th.

Whether it’s good or bad, it’s going to be one heck of a spectacle, that’s for sure! For the details on all the live music going down in D-town, keep reading!

Hollywood Vampires invade Dayton on Tuesday July 12th at Fraze Pavilion

Friday, July 8th

Going to Riverscape Metro Park for the R&B Hot Summer Music Series, is a fun and free way to kick off the weekend. Come dance the night away as LYD takes the stage! Bring a lawn chair for seating.

Riff Raff Tavern is within easy walking distance from Riverscape. When you’re done there, stroll over to Riff Raff for some Blues from the Doug Hart Band and the Kellen Williams Trio. After the week we’ve all had, I’d say Blues are very much in order. Performance from 8:30- midnight.

13606492_1330860806942985_2783646887820083362_nOne of the shows I’m most excited about this weekend is the stellar line up at Blind Bob’s this evening, which includes: The New Old Fashioned, Frontier Folk Nebraska, Red Clay Pigeons, Grayson David Schick. If you enjoy a contemporary take on Americana / folk with a rock edge, this is show was tailored for you! 9 p.m. 21+ $5 cover at the door.

Just down the street, rock fans will be stoked for the show at Oregon Express. Rich Man’s Trick will be appearing for the first time anywhere! Special guests Gild The Lily and Zuel are also performing. $5 cover at the door. 9 p.m.

The Springfield Arts Council always has an awesome line up of free music all summer as part of their Summer Arts Festival, and this weekend is no exception. Check out singer / songwriter Griffin House, who returns to his native Springfield for this special home-coming performance. Show is at 8 p.m. at The Turner Pavilion in Veterans Park. For directions click here.

Out in Yellow Springs, you can catch hometown group Speaking Suns at Peach’s Bar & Grill. They are self-described as progressive pop-rock. Trust me, they are really cool! No risk because it’s free admission. Show starts at 10 p.m. 18+ w/ ID.

West of town, you can check out Roni Horton, with special guest Lavish, at Taffy’s of Eaton. She is new to the Dayton music scene, so please show her some love! Performance 8-11 p.m. Free show.

Looking for something easy-going and early in Dayton? Mr Paul Cullen will be performing Irish tunes for your listening pleasure on the Fifth Street Brew Pub patio from 7-10 p.m. Great patio! Great beers! Great food! Win-win all around.

One of the main events of the evening is definitely the Aria Maria Foundation Benefit at Oddbody’s Music Room. Yes, I’m biased. Aria Marie was a dear friend of mine when she was a young child, and we were all torn apart when her life was cut tragically short, leaving a daughter behind. The AMF benefits children who have lost their parents through scholarships and other financial assistance. This evening’s rock benefit features Nightbeast, Shotgun Surprise, Jasper the Colossal, and Team Void. Man! Now that’s a rock show! Just $5 at the door. 18+. 7 p.m. doors. 8 p.m. show.

Another “don’t miss” show is happening over at Yellow Cab this evening. This one is for the acoustic live music fans out there. In fact this is an ALL acoustic show. Pure Acoustic vol 2 show has no mics, no amps – just the power of their voices and instruments. This the second time YC has produced one of these shows, and this time they are featuring: Nasty Bingo, The Boxcar Suite, Cherry Lee & The Hotrod Hounds, and The Charlie Tipton Band. Love all of them! Doors 8 p.m. Show 9 p.m. Tickets are $7 and are available here or at the door.

I’ve been loving the ongoing music series that Music Connection Dayton, LLC has created called ‘The Dayton Underground Series.’ The 5th show in this series celebrates Dayton area songwriters, and they’ve gathered some of the best around to bring you an evening of powerful performances! Artists include Kyleen Downes, RayaKevin MilnerTodd the FoxVictoria HarperSharon A. Lane and Jeremy & Lynne and The Typical Johnsons. What an awesome collection of musicians! Advance Tickets are $8 from all performing acts or online here. Day of Show Tickets are $10. 18+ w/ ID. Doors at 9 p.m.; Show at 10 p.m.

13320782_1180632815320881_2688877806348192230_o.jpgBlues fans, check out the Joe Tellmann Band at Riff Raff Tavern. We have a history of producing young Blues virtuosos, and this is one in the making! Just 15 years old, and he’s slaying it! Performance from 9-11 p.m.

Our more well-known Blues virtuoso, Noah Wootherspoon, is also performing tonight over at Gilly’s. Performance starts at 8 p.m. Just $5 admission at the door.

Metal fans, be sure to check out Mouth of the ArchitectKenomaFloodwalker and Byzantine are all performing at Blind Bobs for one amazing show. Doors at 8. Show starts at 9:30 p.m.

Taffy’s of Eaton presents Nashville’s Andrew Adkins for this evening’s entertainment. Andrew has been hailed by national media, and has created songs for feature films. His style mixes Americana, Blues, Country and Folk, and is sure to entertain! Show 8-11 p.m.

Sunday, July 10th

Summer BBQ & Blues series at Riff Raff Tavern is back, and this month features Michael Locke and the Repeat Offenders. The event runs from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., making it a very sweet Sunday Funday outing for all!

Chris Isaak performs at The Rose Music Center Tue July 12

“The world was on fire and no one could save me but you…” Those opening lines of Wicked Game by Chris Isaak are burned into my memory, along with the captivating black and white music video from the early 90s. If you loved that haunting voice, here is your chance to hear it live! Chris will be at The Rose Music Center on July 12th. Doors 6 p.m. Show 7 p.m. Tickets start at $23.50. Ticket prices include parking and are subject to applicable Ticketmaster fees and day of show increase. All events are rain or shine.
